Hi All, Do you know how to put some Soundblaster drivers on Svardos, and do you know of they are working? Can i hear the sound on speakers, if i connect them to a headphones hole by the classical 3,5 cable?
Do you know something about the SBEMU Soundblaster emulator? This emulator is working on FreeDOS. Is It working on SvarDOS as well?
Thanks to All
Hi gianni, what exactly do you mean by "Soundblaster", the original ones made by Creative, some form of soundblaster compatible clone or a newer one without builtin soundblaster compatibility? If the vendors shipped DOS drivers these should work with SvarDOS. Regarding SBEMU to get new cards running, I think we have not received any feedback yet. I assume that this will also work on SvarDOS if it runs on FreeDOS.
The last time I connected a Soundblaster to my stereo amplifier it worked perfectly. If the card has a line out , use this. Otherwise try the headphones output, but be careful with the volume! Do not expect hifi from old sound cards, as the noise floor is very high on these early cards...

For DOS standards a P4 machine is a very modern construction. You are going to have compatibility issues with this PCI Live card, even if it comes with some SB-emulating drivers. For a less troublesome retro-gaming experience it would be easier and less stressful to look for a computer that has ISA slots and fit it with a real SB. IIRC the ISA bus died out somewhere around the PII / PIII era.
Alternatively: install Linux on this P4 home-heating device you have and run DOS stuff in 86Box full screen.

Thanks Mateusz, i think i will use 86box because it's very difficult to find an old machine in very good condition.
