Hi All, sorry i'm not expert of this distro, then i can possibly ask elementary questions.
I have found among the svardos past releases, a build named "....dosemu.zip".
It contains many packages to install by pkg.exe.
But it does not work with Windows, i suppose i have to install it in a directory of a virtual environment, like dosbox.
I remember another environment like dosbox, called "dosemu", and today i found on the web a program called "dosemu 2" too.
Is it maybe the same thing, or is it in relation with your build?
Have you got some tutorial for this zip file, or can you give me some info? Thanks so much...
You are correct, the "dosemu" version of SvarDOS is (was) meant to provide a SvarDOS installation for the DOSemu2 environment. DOSemu is a Linux emulator able to run a few DOS systems. I stopped advertising it on the SvarDOS website because it requires specific drivers even for simple disk access, and these drivers may change from one dosemu version to another, so it is a moving target. Plus, dosemu is unable to boot our current EDR kernel so SvarDOS would have to use the FreeDOS kernel instead when deployed in dosemu. I think I will remove dosemu support from our build system completely, as it is only a complication and unnecessary distraction that may confuse new users.
Overall it is much, much easier to run SvarDOS in a normal hypervizor like VirtualBox, QEMU, VMWare, VirtualPC, Bochs, 86box, etc.. just initialize a new minimal VM, attach the SvarDOS 1.44M install image and boot.
